North America Guitar Tour Roswell July 14, 2014 The first stop of the second half was Roswell, Georgia, a little north of Atlanta. Before that, I stopped off in Lynchburg, the town of Jack Daniels. I haven't had whiskey for decades, and I don't think I'll ever drink it again. I heard that the owner of Osaka's Third Stone, where I was going to have a gig after returning to Japan, collects Jack Daniels goods, so I thought I'd buy him some as a souvenir. It was a bit of a detour, but I had regained my energy in Nashville, so I was confident that I could reach my destination by evening if I used the navigation system and drove in just under five hours. It was a very pleasant long drive, my first in a week, and it was a clear day. On the way, I got excited for some reason when I saw signs for Chattanooga, the city of Glenn Miller's "Chattanooga Choo Choo," and Atlanta, the setting for the movie "Gone with the Wind" (even though I didn't see the movie). On the way, I suddenly went ahead by an hour because I was over the time zone, but I somehow managed to arrive at the restaurant where I was supposed to play that evening, and played for about an hour at a dinner party for Mr. D and his wife Ms. B, who were looking after me that night, as well as their relatives and friends. Here, just like at the house party in Los Angeles, the audience's voices got louder for about the first 15 minutes when I started playing, and when I stopped, they got quiet. I came to understand that when this phenomenon occurs, the sound is reaching them. After the dinner party, I went to Mr. D's house, chatted in the living room, and then went to sleep *The people who appear in the text are listed by their initials until I can confirm their identity. |
